Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Bringing Everyone’s Strengths Together (BEST) Grant 2026-2029
The City of San José Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services’ Bringing Everyone’s Strengths Together (BEST) Grant is now accepting applications for the 2026-2029 period.
As the funding arm of the San Jose Youth Empowerment Alliance (SJYEA), the BEST Grant Program provides funding for services to San José youth that will build on their strengths and reduce their risk for involvement in youth violence. SJYEA is built on a foundation of collaboration and partnership, which this grant fosters with stakeholders and outside agencies. This application seeks to qualify agencies for a three-year period from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2029. Applicants must be a nonprofit with a 501(c)(3) status or a government agency.
Interested agencies are invited to attend one of two identical pre-proposal workshops to review critical information about the grant program and how to apply for this funding opportunity. The pre-proposal workshops are scheduled for:

Applicants are strongly encouraged, but are not required, to attend one of the two identical pre-proposal workshops.
To register and access the application, please go to https://grants.sanjoseca.gov/index.jsp. Completed proposals can only be submitted on-line via WebGrants. Proposals must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The average time for a new WebGrants account registration to be complete is three (3) business days.
