NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY FOR THE DOWNTOWN MEALS AND SERVICES PILOT PROGRAM

The City of San José Downtown Meals and Services Pilot Program is now accepting applications for this funding opportunity for 2019-2020.

The intent of the Downtown Meals and Services Program is to provide services to the homeless population of the St. James and Hensley neighborhood, out of a City-owned facility located on 304 North 6th Street, San José, CA 95112. The agency awarded this grant funding will be expected to provide free public lunch meals three days per week to the homeless population that aims to improve and address the downtown meal crisis. Grantee will also be required to leverage the support of the community, distribute fliers about the program to the project area, attend monthly meetings with community groups, and coordinate and promote an Open House that invites the community to view the program in action.  

Applicants must be a nonprofit with a 501(c)(3) status; a government agency; or a legally-recognized faith-based organization. The grant award will be up to $187,000 for one year.

City staff will host a workshop and site visit to review the grant application content and the WebGrants system for application submission. The workshop and site visit will take place on Tuesday, December 4th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m-12:00 p.m. at the African American Community Services Agency Building located at 304 North 6th Street, San José, CA 95112. Applicants are strongly encouraged, but not required, to attend this workshop.

TO APPLY: The grant application is available today on WebGrants, the City's online Grants Management System.  All applicants must register to access the website.  Registration in WebGrants is free.  To register and access the application, please go to http://grants.sanjoseca.gov/index.jsp and and under "Funding Opportunities," click on Downtown Meals and Services Grant link.  

Completed proposals must be submitted on-line via WebGrants. Proposals must be submitted NO LATER THAN 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21st , 2018.
